Blog tour: When a Duke Loves a Woman (Sins for All Seasons #2) by Lorraine Heath

Gillie Trewlove knows what a stranger’s kindness can mean, having been abandoned on a doorstep as a baby and raised by the woman who found her there. So, when suddenly faced with a soul in need at her door—or the alleyway by her tavern—Gillie doesn’t hesitate. But he’s no infant. He’s a grievously injured, distractingly handsome gentleman who doesn’t belong in Whitechapel, much less recuperating in Gillie’s bed . . .
Being left at the altar is humiliating; being rescued from thugs by a woman—albeit a brave and beautiful one—is the pièce de résistance to the Duke of Thornley’s extraordinarily bad day. After nursing him back from the brink, Gillie agrees to help him comb London’s darker corners for his wayward bride. But every moment together is edged with desire and has Thorne rethinking his choice of wife. Yet Gillie knows the aristocracy would never accept a duchess born in sin. Thorne, however, is determined to prove to her that no obstacle is insurmountable when a duke loves a woman.

Review:

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars

"Choose someone with whom you cannot live without, for if you do not, you will discover that you cannot live at all"

I wasn't expecting to like the book as much as I did. The main characters had great chemistry and I loved their relationship. There was some struggle because their ranks are completely the opposite, but it was a natural thing and I was expecting it. Thorne is a duke and Gillie is a commoner who owns a tavern and has spend some of her time as a boy. I don't care if everything that occurred in this book is historically accurate or not because I enjoyed an HR book after a long time. Gillie is an independent woman and she is not waiting for a man to solve her problems which is something that I appreciate and it was believable for a woman who is not from a noble family. Thorne is a man who tries to do the noble thing and find the woman who left him at the altar and he ends up getting his arse kicked. He is not a bad man and he wants to be honorable and keep his promise, but he can't resist love and Gillie. Both of them were great characters and I am sure you will also like them. I would love to see more of how they blended their two worlds and I don't think that the epilogue was enough. I hope we will see them more in Finn and Livinia's book. We got a little tease about their story and it wasn't enough. The quote above is Livinia's and I wonder if she knows what she is talking about from her history will Finn. This series got a new fan and I hope I will like the other books as much as I loved this one.

P.S. Every single time I see or think the title of this book I sing it. It happened with another book with a similar title (I think the hero was an Earl though) and it happened now. It's ridiculous.

About Lorraine Heath

LORRAINE HEATH always dreamed of being a writer. After graduating from the University of Texas, she wrote training manuals, press releases, articles, and computer code, but something was always missing. When she read a romance novel, she not only became hooked on the genre, but quickly realized what her writing lacked: rebels, scoundrels, and rogues. She’s been writing about them ever since. Her work has been recognized with numerous industry awards, including RWA’s prestigious RITA. Her novels have appeared on the USA Today and New York Times bestseller lists.
