Rating: 5 out of 5 stars

Can we get the final book now??? That was a very cruel ending. I want to see what is going to happen next. Julian should fix this. Nothing else it's acceptable. I cannot believe how the events turned out. I wanna hate the author for what she did, but I can't because I can understand why the characters reacted the way the did. And as more time passes, the more I am starting to think that it was an appropriate way to end that storyline. I believe that Julian's feelings for Arianna are pure and he doesn't want Raquel anymore, but he doesn't show that to the people looking from the outside. He is not a bad person, but he needs to let Raquel go once and for all from his life. In my review for The next generation, I mentioned how much I didn't want to see drama between Arianna, Julian and Raquel and they are still making my life harder.

On this cover, I believe we see Nika and Hunter. It would make sense because this is a sort of ending to their story. There is more to tell, but at least they are on a solid ground, unlike some other people I know. Their journey is not easy and a lot of bad things happen on the way. You have to read this book and the next one. Everything in this book felt natural and while I wasn't happy with some of the things that happened, I feel like they should have happened. The characters needed to grow up a little. Julian needed to appreciate Arianna more, Arianna still needs to come to terms with the vampiric side of the boyfriend, Hunter needed to accept that he is a vampire now and Nika is still a mystery to me. She has a long journey in the next book, but I feel like she is already a grown character.

I have to say that I liked the way the author decided to deal with the bond the twins have shared for so long. It wasn't fun to see how they were able to handle it, but in the end it worked out for them, so I guess it's ok. The pace of the book was good. I don't need to comment on the characters because they are the same loveable ones we know. Julian could use some work, but I have hope for him after everything he went through. Overall the book was good, the twists were not predictable and my heart broke a little in the end.

Read an excerpt from THE BEAST WITHIN

Even still, the memory of Nika’s lips on mine burned me more than the acidic feeling of the sunlight as it had finally penetrated the window and seared my skin. Feeling her kiss again had lifted me in a way I’d never expected to be lifted. Our last goodbye kiss was soft, sweet, tender, but full of so much passion. But even it paled in comparison to the taste of her blood in my mouth. The memory wasn’t leaving me. That sensuous liquid had absorbed my every thought and desire. Her heartbeat raging in my ears had drowned out all reason. Clamping onto her neck had felt so natural to me, so right. I’d wanted nothing more than to tear through her skin and feel that burst of warmth course down my aching throat. Oddly enough, I had a feeling Nika would have let me bite her; I thought she’d even wanted me to. But I wouldn’t hurt her in that way, regardless of what the demon inside me wanted.

Once I was inside the lowest level, I breathed a sigh of relief. Shutting the soundproof doors meant shutting out Nika’s honey voice, a voice that plagued my dreams, made me ache in ways that reminded me that a man still lived inside this body of a monster. The way her dress had clung to her, the way my hands had felt running over her body, her warm breath washing over my face, the desire in her eyes, the fire in her kiss … I hadn’t expected her to undo me as quickly as she had. I was putty in her hands, and I’d nearly lost control. But I couldn’t afford to. I wouldn’t snap. Now, or ever. I would remain in full control of this lust. And that meant I had to stay away from Nika. She was too desirable to me. All I would bring her was pain. Or death. And I couldn’t handle either of those scenarios happening.

I would tell her. Tonight, I would tell her. We couldn’t be together, not like we were before. I needed her to stay away from me. I needed her to let me go. Please, Nika, let me go
