Review: Ride Hard (Raven Riders #1) by Laura Kaye

From New York Times Bestselling author Laura Kaye, comes the first steamy standalone in her Raven Riders Series, RIDE HARD! A sexy romantic suspense, you might’ve first met the Ravens in the Hard Ink world, but this series about a different kind of a motorcycle club with a protective mission stands on its own and is even sexier, edgier, and grittier! The Raven Riders Series takes you on a new adventure and kicks it into overdrive!

Brotherhood. Club. Family.

They live and ride by their own rules.

These are the Raven Riders…

Raven Riders Motorcycle Club President Dare Kenyon rides hard and values loyalty above all else. He’ll do anything to protect the brotherhood of bikers—the only family he’s got—as well as those who can’t defend themselves. So when mistrustful Haven Randall lands on the club’s doorstep scared that she’s being hunted, Dare takes her in, swears to keep her safe, and pushes to learn the secrets overshadowing her pretty smile.

Haven fled from years of abuse at the hands of her criminal father and is suspicious of any man’s promises, including those of the darkly sexy and overwhelmingly intense Ravens’ leader. But as the powerful attraction between them flares to life, Dare pushes her boundaries and tempts her to want things she never thought she could.

The past never dies without a fight, but Dare Kenyon’s never backed down before…

Review:

Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars

Ride hard is the first book in a new series by Laura Kaye. Some of Kaye's readers might already know who the Ravens are since we have met them before in her Hard ink series. There is a novella that connects the two series and some of the Hard ink people are making a brief appearance here.

Ride hard isn't your usual MC book. The Ravens are helping women who have been victims of abuse. Haven and Cora belong in that category, but they are currently residing at the club. She has escaped from her abusive past and she has made a list of things she wants to do and Dare is the man to help her with that. Dare is the president of the Ravens who almost made me stop reading the book when he came really close to doing something "intimate" with another member of the club. He was forgiven though since nothing happened and it was in the second chapter.

I went ahead and the read the blurbs for the next two book and I got to say that the foundation for both books was set in Ride hard and now I will have to wait for them to be released which is not nice. I am sure I will like both of them and I want to get to know these characters. Thankfully the next book is releasing next month so the wait won't be so long.

I liked the pace of this book. I didn't feel like it was too slow or too fast. The flow was also good and I had a very enjoyable time reading Ride hard. I liked Haven's character, but for me, Dare wasn't the ideal book boyfriend. Ride hard is the very good beginning for a new series. It gave us an idea of the how the club operates, the rules of it and the people who belong to the club. It was a good story and I am hoping for an even better sequel. I enjoyed reading this book and I hope you will also enjoy it as much as I did.

And don’t miss all the books in the Raven Riders Series!
