Review: Cold Malice (Cold Justice Book 8) by Toni Anderson

ASAC Steve (Mac) McKenzie is out to prove himself by leading a task force investigating a series of murders in the heart of Washington, DC. His undercover work in an antigovernment compound twenty years earlier is related—as is the sweet, innocent girl he befriended back then. Now that girl is a beautiful woman, and she has something to hide.
Tess Fallon spent a lifetime trying to outrun her family’s brand of bigotry, but someone is threatening her anonymity by using the anniversary of her father’s death to carry out evil crimes and she’s terrified her younger brother is involved. She sets out to find the truth and comes face-to-face with a man she once idolized, a man she thought long dead. As the crimes escalate it becomes obvious the killer has an agenda, and Tess and Mac are running out of time to stop him.
Will the perpetrator use a decades-old dream of revolution to attack the federal government? And will the fact that Tess and Mac have fallen hard for each other give a cold-hearted killer the power to destroy them both?

What I liked about this book is that it kept me guessing. I might have been able to figure out some stuff, but I was surprised by the twists and turns the book had. The book satisfied me in the suspense and the romance department. The only complaint you will hear from me about this book is that I wanted to see more of the characters. I sometimes feel like the I love yous were said a little too fast, but then I remember everything that went on and I realized that it was perfectly timed. I liked the villain and the process of finding her.

Toni Aderson writes novels that drug me into their world and cannot escape. The only reason I stopped reading the book was sleep. I couldn't keep my eyes open for any longer and I didn't want to miss the clues on the killers' identity or Mac and Tessa's investigation and that's why I stopped reading. The secondary characters were very interesting and I would love to see more of them. Honestly, I would read whatever the author has in store for the series. From the beginning of the book I was hoping for one thing and I cannot tell you how happy I was to find out that my wish came true. I wanted Kenny and Theresa to find happiness together in the end of everything and they did. I had lost hope, but the author managed to surprise me and make me happy.
The next book in the series is a novella about the couple from the first book which is a good thing for me since it will give me a motive to put my TBR aside for a while and read the first books in the series. They have been sitting in my Kindle for a long time and it's time to see how everything began.
