Every Sweet Regret is the second book in the Orchid Valley series by Lexi Ryan. It's a stand-alone and the characters from the previous and probably future books are featured. One thing about the blurb I would like to add is that Kace and Stella have (or trying to have at least) a physical thing all the time he is talking to Stella online thinking that she is someone else. It feels like a big thing to leave out of the blurb.

I really wanted to like the book and the blurb made it seem very appealing, but I had a couple of problems with the story that I ended up not liking the story much. My main problem was Stella.

You see the Stella from the first chapter is different from the Stella everyone else thinks she is who is different from the Stella she thinks she is who is different from the Stella she actually is. There were so many Stellas in this book and the end, non of them had an actual growth. Stella of chapter one is the kind of person who sleeps around a lot and wants to have a good time. The Stella everyone thought she was is a wild child who likes to party. The Stella, Stella thought she was, is a person who does not worth anything and should be treated horribly. The actual Stella is kind of a mystery to me still. She deserved better than what she got and she never really asked for what she wanted. She is the same person she was when the story began, but now she has Kace.

I would have believed that Kace truly wanted Stella and that his words were real if he had dismissed Itsy's words when she told him her secret instead of just saying that he cut her off because he wanted to be with Stella. He spent too much time in the book pinning after his wife even though she made it more than obvious that she doesn't want him anymore. He even walks in on her with another man at her house and he still doesn't. That's not romance material unless the heroine is the wife.

Finally, there is a plot about Stella's past and the reason why she has so low self-esteem and it wasn't resolved in this book which I hated. Maybe we will see more about it when Dean gets a book, but I don't hope for much. I didn't even like Dean for the most part. At least he took care of his sister so he scored some points there.

Overall, the book wasn't for me and I would not recommend it.
