In business circles, I’m known for being cutthroat and demanding. Robert Dumont is a hardass, they say. And it’s true. I thrive on challenges. Taking the family-owned restaurant chain to the next level is my passion.
When my sister’s marriage implodes, I head back to New York, to be there for her and my niece. These are my only two priorities: growing the business and taking care of my family.
My new neighbor is a temptation I hadn’t counted on. Skye Winchester is bold, sensual and I just can’t keep my distance. I’m determined to make her mine. But once I’ve touched her, I want more. I want to worship her all night long.
As a business owner herself, Skye’s got enough on her plate. I was expecting her to run in the opposite direction when she realizes how complicated my life is. Instead, she does the opposite: making my sister laugh, charming my niece… She completely wins me over.
Neither of us expected our attraction to grow until it obscures everything but each other.

And neither of us can afford to allow that. But how can we stop now?

In the third book of the Very irresistible Bachelors series by Layla Hagen, we meet Robert and Skye. Robert moved to NYC two weeks ago to help his sister deal with her divorce and is looking for a permanent house. Skye volunteered to help her former neighbors sell their house despite having her own business and been busy. One of the potential buyers is Robert and from the moment they met there was a connection between them.
In all honesty, this is my least favorite book in the series. It’s always a given that when I pick an LH book I will get lost in it and forget everything else, but this time that didn’t happen exactly. Yes, the book was good and I had a good time, but there was something that prevented me from loving it. I think that the problem lies with Skye and Robert’s relationship. They didn’t click for me. I am not saying that they were a bad coupling, I just didn’t like how they went from the strangers phase to dating and then becoming an official couple.
As individuals, both of them were great. Robert is a loving and caring brother and uncle. One of the things I love about LH’s heroes is that they love not only the heroine but also their family and they always make sure that they are taken care of. One of the scenes that I clearly remember from the book is when he sent food to Skye and her mother. It was a small gesture, but it meant a lot. Skye is a strong-willed and can give you hell if she thinks that what you are doing is wrong. I really liked her.
Despite not liking this book much, if someone asked me whether I would recommend it or not, I would probably say that I would.
