Review: Madam Temptress (The Magnolia Duet #2) by Meghan March

Madam Temptress Release Day Blitz/Blog Tour Collateral
Release Date: April 14, 2020

From New York Times bestselling author Meghan March comes the stunning conclusion to the highly-anticipated Magnolia Duet.

I didn’t choose this path. No one would.

I played the cards I was dealt.

This life made me. This city made me.

I won’t apologize for who I’ve become.

Moses wouldn't have me any other way.

He says he wants forever, and I’m starting to believe him.

But I can’t outrun my past, and my sins are catching up with me.

If it’s time to atone, I’ll gladly pay my penance.

We might be getting our second chance, but we have to make it out alive first.

Madam Temptress is the conclusion of the Magnolia Duet and should be read after Creole Kingpin.

 Review:

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars

Madam Temptress is the second book in The Magnolia Duet by Meghan March and it concludes Moses and Magnolia's story. It's not a stand-alone and the books have to be read in order.

Over the last few days, I have been contemplating my feelings for this book and I realized that I found this book underwhelming. This is Moses and Magnolia's story and yet the best parts of the book for me were the ones featuring Mount, Keira and their daughter. It was like the main characters took a step-up and let M&K in the spotlight. Don't get me wrong, I love seeing old characters back, but this time we should have seen them less. Usually, the final part of the story has the most impact and that was not the case with this book. It felt weaker than I was expecting. The suspense was great though and it was the second-best thing about the book. The department with the worst performance was the romance. What I truly loved was the epilogue though. It's the kind of epilogue I want to read in a story and it ended the book in a good note.

Overall, I would recommend the duet, but if you ask me with which MM series you should begin, this one would be very low on the list and not only because it's connected to the Mount trilogy.
