BLURB:

I thought he was abducting me for dark pleasures. Instead, he cooked me breakfast.

  Harper

I don’t get tangled up with men. I love them and leave them. Always have. I’m a drifter, traveling without any real destination in mind. Until my van gets stuck and a stern, strong cowboy literally puts me over his shoulder. Settling down is starting to look like a good option. But I don’t know how to stop running from my past.

  Barrett

Harper’s like a wild rabbit; running, always running, and I want to catch her and show her she doesn’t need to run no more. I thought I could change her. Only, now she’s gone. Can a wild thing ever stop and settle down? Make Me Stay is the second book in the Arizona Heat series. It can be read as a standalone. If you are looking for a steamy contemporary cowboy romance featuring insta-lust, a little rope work and spanking, this 30,000-word novella is for you.

Review:

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars

I have mixed feelings about the novella. On the very first sentence, I read about one of my pet peeves. The heroine was walking out of her one night stands house. Was that written just to drive home that Harper is the love them and leave them type? We already knew that. Anyway, after she leaves she goes to sleep in her van and trespasses on the property Barrett is working on. As she is trying to leave after he confronts her, her van gets stuck and Barrett goes into kidnapping mode. I was expecting Barrett to be on a serious alpha male mode when he did the kidnapping and that didn't happen in my book. He didn't make me feel like he was actually in control and he was meh. At least he was protective of Harper and he treated her well. Harper sometimes seemed like a good heroine for my standards and others I couldn't understand or relate to her. The romance was rushed, even for a novella and I felt like the pieces of the story weren't so well connected. On the positive side, there was something about the story that made me keep reading and while I was reading the book I decided that I want to read Clay's story, so at least it had some interesting characters.
