Private Property by Skye Warren is now live!
When I signed up for the nanny agency, I didn't expect a remote mansion on a windswept isle. Or a brooding billionaire who resents his new role.
His brother's death means he's now in charge of a moody seven year old girl. She's lashing out at the world, but I can handle her. I have to. I need the money to finish my college degree.
As long as I can avoid the boss who alternately mocks me and coaxes me to reveal my darkest secrets.
Review:
Rating: 4 out of 5 stars
Private Property is the first book in the Rochester Trilogy by Skye Warren. It's not a stand-alone and it ends with a cliffhanger, so if you don't like waiting, I would recommend waiting for the third book to be released before reading this one. To be honest, though, this particular cliffhanger didn't have a lot of impact on me because I am positive that everything is going to be alright.
At this point, I can say that Private Property was a good book and I would recommend it, but I don't feel confident enough to say "read the trilogy asap" and I don't want to indicate that with my comment above. I have PTSD from the Diamond series. In fact, I was wondering if something similar to what happened in Gold mine, would happen in this book too and I almost DNF this one. There was some OW drama, but thankfully nothing happened. I was super worried about it and I was into the book, so I didn't want to DNF it.
I am on the fence about the main characters. Jane was a pushover at times and in others, she showed some backbone which makes me wonder what she truly is like. Beau is an a-hole, simple as that. He is cold, distant and I don't think he cares much. There are times though where I think that he can turn around a bit and Paige has a part of his heart, or at least that's what I want to believe. The only certain thing is that he doesn't treat Jane very well in the beginning.
I am curious about the Rochester family secrets and I hope that Jane will uncover some in the second book. I also wonder if the book could have some paranormal element in it or if it's all in Jane's head. The pacing is a little slow in this book which is not a bad thing. This part of the trilogy feels like it's the world-building stage and that in the other two books we will get the action/a faster pace. Overall, I am satisfied with this book and I am looking forward to the other two.
