Another day, another step closer to Hell on Earth being unleashed. With every piece that falls into place for the queen of the Underworld, Kymaris gains strength and power that will make it more difficult to defeat her when the time comes. It feels as if we’re in a desperate race to get just one step ahead of her, but my demise feels closer than it ever has before with still so much to do. The first order of business is to unlock the angelic powers with which I was gifted at birth, and Carrick insists on getting help from my archnemesis to do so. Yes, I have to save the world, but my priority has now become rescuing my sister from the Underworld. While there are many questions still to be answered about my long-lost twin, I know I will not win this battle without her by my side. In the midst of all the doom and gloom, Carrick has become my beacon of shining light. Our connection unimaginable, my heart recognizes his as the other half of its whole. Inexplicable and deeper than one could ever imagine, the love I hold for him is forged by destiny, however ill-fated it may turn out to be. And those are the feelings I must hold close…to keep me going. Because a painful lesson is on the horizon—betrayal never comes from your enemies. A Battle of Blood and Stone is book four of the Chronicles of the Stone Veil series and is best enjoyed if read in series order.

Review:

Rating:

A Battle of Blood and Stone is the 4rth book in the Chronicles of the Stone Veil series by Sawyer Bennett. There is a fifth and final book coming which will end Finley’s story. The books must be read in order.

More than ever, I felt like the series should have been shorter. There were things happening to our characters and yet I was feeling like the story was progressing very slowly. I found myself thinking that the book was dragging and when I went back to reading, a lot of stuff were going on and many characters’ plotlines were advancing or coming to an end. People died. More questions were answered. More questions were created.

The ending is the best cliffhanger the series had. There was a big reveal that explained some of the things that happened and it made me start questioning everything. I wonder how the final book will begin and how/if will Finley defeat the bad guys. I hope that the author will give closure to all the secondary characters and dare I hope for a book about Maddox?

Now that the cat is out of the box, there is one thing I want to say. Finley and Garrick’s relationship reminds me of Luce and Daniel’s from Fallen. It’s a good thing since I loved that series. I can’t help myself but wonder if their ending is going to be similar or if Sawyer Bennett is going to choose another path. I am not sure what to hope for, besides a happy ending for them in any form.

Blog tour: Romancing His Heart (Broken Hearts, #4) by Avery Maxwell

Romancing His Heart, an all-new small-town billionaire romance from Avery Maxwell is available now!

Loki
I’m a highly trained special operative tasked with taking down the East Coast’s most dangerous man—my father.
She’s a bubbly, timid, overly inquisitive romance author with an aversion to true love. And she’s now under my protection.
As our worlds collide, we’re forced into hiding while I piece together who’s chasing us. Being alone in a one-room cabin with Sloane Camden has me catching feelings I have no business having.
When I finally give in to temptation, the sparks we’ve created turn into wild flames.
Will our time together be enough to tear down her walls? Or will old insecurities have her running before we even begin?

Sloane
I write romance; I don’t live it.
As far as I’m concerned, happily ever after is best left in storybooks where they can’t hurt you.
But spending time alone with the insufferable Loki Kane has me questioning all I thought I knew.
Long days turn into hot nights, and before long, the line between fiction and reality becomes blurred.
He has a way of making me see the light even in the darkest of days. For the first time in my life, I’m wondering, what if?
When the walls of his past close in, will I be strong enough to fight for us? Or will I run before he can leave me too?

Review:
Rating: 4 out of 5 stars
Romancing His Heart is the fourth book in the Broken Hearts series by Avery Maxwell. I believe it's the final book in the series, but we are going to get a spin-off about Preston's brothers. Ashton better be the one who is going to get a book first. The poor man went through a lot of things in this book and I want him to get a happy ending and heal from all the bad stuff. I also hope that we will see more of the guys from this series.
I loved Saving His Heart so much that it was no question whether or not I was going to read this one. Romancing His Heart wasn't as good, but it still had some good parts that made the book worth reading. My main issue with the book was Sloane. She had a lot of hang up and I am not sure where they came from. She had low self-esteem and always felt like she didn't belong which wasn't something that her sister felt, so it seemed a little off. Loki was an a-hole too, but at least half the time his actions were justified.

The last third of the book had some very memorable moments and some of the character growth I wanted to see. I was very proud of Sloane. She rocked and came a lot of steps closer to the person I wanted to see her become.

Having read 2/4 books of the series I would say that you should definitely give it a try ( or least the last 2 books). Dex is consistently amazing though and I will go back and read his book, so I'd recommend you do the same.

Excerpt

“Who are you?” I finally ask.

With a smirk so sexy it sends blood rushing through my veins, she replies, “I’m Sloane. Emory’s sister, the renter of this apartment, romance author extraordinaire, and now, your private nurse.”

Emory. Emory. Emory? I have that niggling feeling again and smash my knuckles into my temples. Why can’t I remember?

“Ah, Loki?” Her sweet voice fills the room. “Emory. Preston’s doctor, remember?” Sloane murmurs just as Ashton enters the room.

“Jesus Christ, Loki. It’s so good to see you awake. You scared the shit out of us,” he says while wrapping me in one of those Westbrook hugs I learned to tolerate all those years ago. Okay, maybe tolerate is too harsh a word, but I can’t focus on how good it is to be home right now.

“It’s good to see you, too, Ash. We have work to do, though.” Remembering we have an audience, I turn to Sloane. “Hey, Red? Would you mind giving us a few minutes?”

“Actually, I do.”

Seth rolls his eyes, and Ashton chuckles.

What the hell?

“Listen, I see you’ve camped out here, and I appreciate you were taking care of me, but my work is confidential and could be a matter of life or death. Plus, this is my apartment, so I’m going to have to ask you to step out of the room.”

“No.”

Is this girl joking?

I look to the guys for backup and realize instantly that they have no intention of stepping in.

“What do you mean, no? This,” I say, gesturing around the room, “is my apartment.”

Her sparkling green eyes dance with mischief, and I know she’s about to put me in my place.

“You may own it, but I am renting it. I have a signed lease, and I’ve checked; you cannot kick me out.” She smiles as she rounds the bed, her wild, silky hair falling out of a ponytail that sits on top of her head. Before settling back into her chair, she opens a medicine bottle, then hands me two pills and a glass of water.

“Take those before the pain gets too bad. Doctor’s orders, and you don’t want to mess with my sister. One is an antibiotic, and one is just a mild pain pill. If Emory’s sedatives didn’t knock you out, you don’t need to worry about those.”

How the hell did she know I would worry about the pain pills knocking me out?

“Ah, boss? I’ve got some stuff to tell you, and it’s okay to talk freely in front of Sloane.”

Seth is acting dodgy, and I don’t like it. Narrowing my eyes, I glare from him to Sloane, to Ashton before finally settling back on Seth.

“Well, what is it?” My irritation is bubbling over.

“Sloane, you have your notebook handy, right? You might as well take notes. I think we’re going to need them to piece this together.”

I watch in shock as she takes not one but two pens out of her ponytail and grabs the notebook on my nightstand.

“We’re going to talk about this apartment thing. Soon,” I say seriously.

“Can’t wait, handsome.” She winks. She actually fucking winks at me.

About Avery
Avery Maxwell is an American Romance Author who loves wine, sexy stories, pizza, and her family.

Avery is a hot mess of a mom to four wildly sweet mini-humans and two fur babies. She spends far too much time in her pj's and trips over herself multiple times a day. Accident-prone is probably a fair assessment.

Having grown up in small-town Vermont, Avery often jokes about being the most naïve person in the room. Luckily, she's used that small-town charm to write character-driven contemporary romances that have you laughing one minute, and crying the next.

When she isn't refereeing (three little boys require a lot of whistle blowing), or cuddled up with her real-life Prince Charming, you can find her tucked away with a bottle of wine (because those steamy scenes don't write themselves!), or coaching her daughter's basketball team.

Avery now lives in North Carolina where she brings life, love, and a happily ever after to every character she writes.

Blog tour: Bad Luck Club (Asheville Brewing #4) by A.R. Casella and Denise Grover Swank

Can two broken people grow together, or will they tear each other apart?

Bad Luck Club, an all-new, not-to-be-missed, opposites attract standalone romance in the laugh-out-loud Asheville Brewery Series by New York Times bestselling author Denise Grover Swank and A.R. Casella is available now!

A grumpy man. A recovering people-pleaser. And the secret club that brings them together.

Lee Buchanan is a hot mess.

Turning one’s father in to the feds can do that to a man.

He had nothing to do with his father’s Ponzi scheme, but he’s blacklisted from commercial real estate all the same. Which is how he ends up in Asheville, working at the brewery he inherited with his siblings. He’s salty as hell, and he doesn’t care who knows it.

Until the gorgeous, intriguing Blue Combs issues the most peculiar invitation he’s ever received: Come to the Bad Luck Club. We can help you.

It sounds like a cult or, worse, a group of Mary Sues, but Blue is different from any woman he’s ever met. For better or worse, he’s drawn to her.

Just like she’s drawn to him, even if she has no intention of going all in with another man. She’s been there, done that, twice, and the life she’s built for herself is too important to risk.

What starts as one person’s desire to help another turns into a connection too powerful to be denied—but can two broken people grow together, or will they tear each other apart?

Review:

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars

Bad Luck Club is the fourth book in the Asheville Brewing series by A.R. Casella and Denise Grover Swank. Some secondary characters will get a book so I wouldn't call this an end to the series. This book features the last single Buchanan sibling and I hate to say this but I was disappointed. I had so much fun with the other books and I had very high hopes for this one too. Unfortunately, there were a few things that I didn't enjoy.

Should I start with the fact that Blue is "dating" another man for 1/3 of the book? It doesn't matter that it wasn't anything serious. It matters that she kept bringing him up and he was just an annoying obstacle to her building relationship with Lee. These two actually had a lot of obstacles. I didn't find them all necessary and I wish more time had been spent on Lee fixing his relationship with his siblings. There was drama, that could have been avoided and Lee and Blue could have more time to grow as characters and get over their pasts.

Lee knew that he was messed up and he even told Blue about it and asked her to be understanding and call him out on it. He is a member of the Bad luck club after all. Blue chose to bolt when the time to do what he asked came and I was very frustrated. That's why we cannot have two messed-up characters. At that point, I was rolling my eyes hard. I do feel like Lee had better growth than her which is weird since Blue is the one who was supposed to be a long-time member of the club.

The book had some good parts and I am excited about Cal's book. He intrigued me and I cannot wait to find out how and with who he is going to get his happy ending. The epilogue was great and It only made me want to see more of these characters, which I hope we will in the future books.

Excerpt

She turned into Bear’s long drive, and Lee cursed a little under his breath.
“We’re here, aren’t we?”
“This is it. You’re looking at the Cluster.”
There was plenty of parking for everyone, thankfully, but the people who lived closest to each other usually carpooled for meetings. That made it hard to tell who’d already arrived, but it looked like they were among the last. She couldn’t decide whether that was a good thing.
She parked the car and turned to Lee, who was giving her a pointed glance. “Cloister? That isn’t helping dissuade me about the whole cult thing. The whole cabin in the woods thing doesn’t seem like a great sign either.”
“Not cloister. Cluster, like cluster…fudge.”
A smile played on his lips. “Let me guess, your father didn’t like it when you swore.”
“Of course not,” she said, smiling back. “It wouldn’t be ladylike.”
“And why, may I ask, do they call their own house a cluster—” he gave her a wicked look, “—fudge?”
“I guess you’re about to find out.”
They both unbuckled their seat belts, but he made no move for the door. Gazing at her, the gold flecks in his eyes like mica, he asked, “Blue, what part of last night convinced you to break things off with Dan?”
She didn’t answer right away, her heart still choking her, and he smiled at her—a sexy, unreserved smile—the kind that made her wonder how many people he’d looked at this way.
“Radical honesty, remember?”
Her whole body hummed like a tuned instrument. It hadn’t been like this since the beginning with Remy.
And if that wasn’t a thought to wake her up . . .
Except it didn’t jar her enough. Because she found herself leaning toward Lee a little, as if caught up in a whirlwind of his making. As if those vines were cinching their very bodies together. “Because I wanted you to kiss me,” she admitted. She silently added, Because I felt more connected to you in one night than I did to him in two months…
But Lee was reaching for her then, his hand weaving into her hair, pulling her to him, and those lips that had driven her to distraction the night before, the ones that had hovered over her neck, were suddenly on hers. They were warm and commanding, and Blue felt lost to the longing that unfurled within her, to the heat that ignited in her core. He’d probably meant it to be a soft kiss, exploratory, but his hand burrowed deeper into her hair, pulling her closer, and she found herself moaning as his tongue swept into her mouth. She wrapped her hands around his arms, mindlessly trying to bring him closer, needing to feel him against her like she had last night, like she’d dreamed of, and suddenly he was lifting her up onto his lap. They were facing each other this time, and she had a flash of what it would have been like if they’d talked like this last night—looking into each other’s eyes, bodies locked together—and the intimacy of it was more arousing than anything she’d ever experienced. She was the one who kissed him this time, reveling in the fact that he’d given her control by pulling her on top of him, until she caught a glimpse of the bench Cal had made, beneath the willow tree in the Cluster’s back yard, and oh God, what the hell was she doing?

Release Blitz: I Pucking Love You by Pippa Grant

Title: I Pucking Love You
Series: Copper Valley Thrusters #5
Author: Pippa Grant
Genre: Romantic Comedy
Release Date: April 8, 2021

BLURB

You know those stories where an adorably misunderstood clumsy girl needs a fake date to a wedding so she asks her brother’s best friend and they accidentally fall in love?

I wish that was the kind of life I lead, but it’s not.

I don’t need a date to a wedding. I need a date to a funeral.
Clumsy sometimes fits, but then, that’s true for all of us, right? But adorable? No. Misunderstood? Nope again. I’m just your average girl, standing in front of a funeral invitation, asking it to be a winning lottery ticket instead.

And I don’t have a brother, or a best friend with a brother available, which means I’m stuck with Tyler Jaeger.

Sure, he’s a professional hockey player who also knows advanced calculus, but let’s say we’re not compatible and leave it at that. I should know. I am a matchmaker.

Not a very good one, but that’s beside the point.

I know a mismatch when I see one.

Still, Tyler’s what I’ve got, and I am not going to this funeral solo, so he’s what I’ll take.

After all—what could go wrong at a funeral?

I Pucking Love You is a hilariously wrong romantic comedy about the world’s worst matchmaker, a hockey player with a problem he doesn’t want to talk about, and an awkward date-of-convenience that everyone would prefer to forget. It comes complete with a cat working his way through his nine lives, all the sexy times, fish and chips, and a swoony happily-ever-after.

EXCERPT

Tyler

We all have to be at practice tomorrow morning—check that, this morning, as it’s shortly after midnight—but I don’t want to go home.

I don’t want to drink. I don’t want to talk. I don’t want to screw.

I want—

Dammit.

I want a bucket of greasy fried fish and chips, because it’s what my big brother used to take me to get every time he came home on leave from the Marines and got annoyed at being hen-pecked by the four sisters between us.

My car’s cold, thanks to the early November weather, and no, I’m not telling you what kind of car I drive, because yes, it very much feels like compensation tonight.

It gets me where I want to go.

That’s all that matters.

That, and getting my ass to Cod Pieces before they close for the night.

Could I stay at the bunny bar and get fried fish and chips?

Yes.

Will I?

No fucking way.

I’m still stewing in my own misery when the bright neon sign with the armored cod and the storefront that looks like a medieval castle comes into view at the edge of a strip mall four miles the wrong direction from my downtown condo. I roll the window down, letting in a blast of chilly air and the scent of fries.

Just in time.

I holler my order over the sound of my engine, then pull around to the window to get my fish.

Debate calling my brother in Miami.

It’s one AM. He and his wife recently celebrated their kid’s first birthday, and I think they’re working on baby number two.

If I call him in the middle of the night to bitch about how I can’t get it up, he’ll probably hang up on me, then tell our sisters.

And Mom.

She’s a professional comedienne with her own popular Netflix special. There’s no damn way I’m bothering West in the middle of the night for this.

I’ll talk to the fried fish and call it even.

Has as much personality as West had before he married Daisy.

The window swings open. “That’ll be fourteen seventy-three, please.”

My car lurches forward before I remember to put it in park, and I gape up at the woman staring down at me. “Muffy?

My brain is playing tricks on me.

It has to be.

Because there’s no way the curvy, clumsy, smart-mouthed goddess who’s haunting my dick is standing there wearing a Cod Pieces polo and hat.

But she is.

And I swear to god, her long brown braids are recoiling in horror as her whole face twists, her lip curling, her left eye squeezing shut, before she snaps herself together. “For the hundredth time today, I have no idea who this Muffy person is. My name is Octavia Louisa Beaverhousen.”

Fuck me.

There are two of them? She looks exactly like Muffy. I’m not seeing things, and I’m not projecting just because I want my dick to work again and the bunnies made me think about screwing Muffy in the walk-in fridge at the bunny bar.

“Fourteen seventy-three, please.” She turns away as she holds out a hand, twitching her fingers like she’s waiting for cash or a card.

And that’s when I see the tattoo.

Rufus.
Her cat’s name. It’s on her wrist.

Octavia Louisa Beaverhousen, my ass. This is Muffy.

Book Blurb:

Evil is coming. A dark malevolence the likes of which this world has never seen, and it comes straight from the depths of Hell. Darkness meant to destroy. A prophecy I am fated to fulfill but will most likely not survive. Through it all, Carrick Byrne has stood strong by my side. Something has deeply changed between me and the man I once despised, and all it took was a kiss of provocation for both of us to feel it. I know deep in my soul we’re being guided by destiny, but I don’t know if I can trust it. Carrick is holding something back, and I fear the consequences could be deadly once his truth is revealed. We’re not ready, but calamity waits for no woman. I have discovered a power within myself I must learn to master. A new connection in the Underworld has been revealed to me, one that I hope is friend but is just as likely foe. We are in a race against time as we try to figure out how to stop the end of the world from occurring. The battle is coming, and I can only hope we’re prepared for what happens next. Review:

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars

The Evolution of Fae and Gods is the third book in the Chronicles of the Stone Veil series by Sawyer Bennett. It's not a stand-alone novel and the books must be read in order. As expected the book ends with a cliffhanger and unlike the one from the previous book, this one actually made me want to read the next book ASAP.

I liked this book because we got some answers and there was progress in Finley and Carrick's relationship. The story wasn't stale, we learned a lot of things about the characters, and more pieces fell into place. There was something that bothered me and it was the pace of the story. It was a little too slow. I found myself thinking that what was happening in the book could have been happening just a little bit faster. Just to be clear the story wasn't dragging, it was just a little slower than I would have liked.

There is a huge bomb dropped on us at the end of the book and I am dying to know how the author plans on solving it. I don't want to spoil it since it's a game-changer, but I really need someone to talk about it. It reminded me of one of my favorite series from my teenage years so I got even more excited about the possibilities of what can happen next.

Overall, I liked the book and so far I would recommend the series.

Harper Lane's running from a dangerous past, but no matter how hard she tries, it follows. This time, she's not alone. She runs right into the arms of Reed. She's his now. His to protect. His to save. To do so, he'll have to return to the life he's left behind. But the brainy PhD is worth the fight and with her, he'll be ready for anything. Even something he never thought he deserved. Love.

Review:

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars

Rough and Ready is the second book in the More Than A Cowboy series by Vanessa Vale. It's a stand-alone novel and the characters from Strong and Steady appear in this one. We met Reed in the first book as Gray's trainee, so he wasn't an unfamiliar face. I don't recall having met Harper in that book though.

I feel like I should warn you that the book could have some triggers for some people. I don't want to say anything because it will spoil a part of the story, but at the same time, I won't feel good if I don't mention it.

Harper is way more complicated than I thought she would be. Her character reminded me a lot of Ellie from J. Kenner's Fallen Saint trilogy and I think that anyone who has read these two books will see the similarities. Their motivations are completely different though and I, in no way, want to accuse VV of anything. I am only adding the last one, because a lot of shady things are going on in the romance world lately. I don't think that straight-laced is a phrase that can describe the Harper I read about. She is many things and straight-laced is not something I would say about her.

I wasn't expecting Reed to be as sweet and understanding as he was. I thought he would be more macho and closed off and I am glad he wasn't. Once he realized that Harper was the one for him there was nothing stopping him from getting her and making sure that she was safe.

Overall, the book was good and I would recommend it.
