EXCERPT:

I knock on Mer’s apartment door and shift back and forth on my feet. I haven’t been this nervous since the very first time I picked her up for a date early in our Junior year. I’ve come a long way since then. Suddenly the door is wrenched open and Jax is standing there with a wide smile.
Hey,” he says. “Hi. I’m here to pick up Meredith.”
“Mr. Delicious is here for your date, tootsie roll!” Jax yells.
“I’m right here, dork,” Meredith says as she slips under his arm out into the hallway.
“Ignore him. He has horrible manners.”
“Have fun,” Jax continues, leaning on the doorjamb with his arms crossed and watching us walk to the elevator. I brace my hand on the small of her back and feel the electricity travel up my arm and down to my groin. After all this time, the chemistry is still here.
“You have her home at a decent time, now. I’ll leave the light on.”
“Shut up, Jax,” Mer says with a laugh.
“Use condoms!” He calls just as the elevator arrives.
“Oh my God! Shut the hell up, Jax!” He laughs as the doors close and I can only smile in delight down at her. Her cheeks are pink with embarrassment. Her hair is pulled up in one of her signature messy buns and she’s in jeans and a blue sweater the same color as her eyes. Jesus, she’s fucking gorgeous.
“You look amazing,” I say and rub a large circle over her slender back.
“So do you,” she murmurs and looks up and down at my plain black T-shirt and jeans. I threw a plaid button down over the T, but her eyes travel to my arms anyway. She always did have a thing for my arms.
“Thanks for coming out with me tonight.”
“Thanks for inviting me,” she replies with a grin.
“Where are we going?”
“You’ll see.”

I mostly listen to rock music like Tesla, Led Zeppelin, The Cure, Nirvana, Audioslave, Metallica, Motley Crue, Matchbox Twenty, Evanescence, Linkin Park, Lynyrd Skynyrd, etc. I just love music in general.

Writing "The Dark Love Series" truly saved my life. In 2013, I was diagnosed with MDD (Major Depressive Disorder) and GAD (Generalized Anxiety Disorder). Depression and anxiety is the hardest things to live with. I'm not ashamed of it anymore, it's who I am. I'm beautifully broken. That's when I discovered I wanted to write, and Dark Love was born. I didn't want the story to end there, because I connected so much with all of these character, so Seeing Red was born.

Seeing Red has been a long journey, not only for me, but for my characters too.
I've dealt with writer's block on many occasions. Luckily, music cured that! My
characters have become my life. I feel like I live in their world sometimes, then I stop
writing and get snapped back into reality.

Without "Dark Love" and “Seeing Red” I would probably still be struggling with
severe depression and anxiety. I was lost for a while, but writing saved my life, it truly
did.

Being a published author is my dream in life. I'm dedicated to make my dream come true.

Guest post: Fighting Fate by Carrie Ann Ryan

BLURB:

With her blue-black hair and striking green eyes, Cailin Jamenson is the epitome of beauty and the exemplar of strength. She has fought the enforced boundaries of being the lone Jamenson daughter and Redwood Pack princess, but it is the potential future with the dark wolf in her path that threatens everything she thought she desired.
Logan Anderson’s own darkness provided the reasoning for his abandonment of his former Pack, the Talons. Now, newly accepted into the Redwood Pack, this jade-eyed wolf and all she represents could be his own undoing.
In this final installment of the Redwood Pack, unimaginable tragedy strikes, and the two wolves who have fought the longest for their independence now face the uncertainty of fate and the epic battle that could end the war… and their lives.

GUEST POST:
Alpha Heroes

Oh the Alpha Hero. I do love them. I can’t help it. All that domineering and controlling behavior. Oh wait, maybe not too much of that! My type of Alpha hero is strong, worthy, domineering and controlling in some sense, but not always.

The best Alpha is the one that knows he can give up control because he’s established trust. Now I’m not talking about in the bedroom, that would be a whole other blog post altogether. No, I’m talking about the fact that when they’re with their mate, in this case, when Logan is with Cailin, he might be strong, but he knows she’s strong too.
The idea that he will fight for his life and the lives of those he loves with his mate alongside him makes him Alpha in my book.

What about you? What makes your favorite heroes Alpha?

EXCERPT:

Death came in many forms, but in the end, the lack of breath, the lack of existence was all Caym craved.
Sometimes waiting was the only way to ensure the success of a well-laid plan. Sometimes death was the only way to give rebirth. The act itself would take a piece of him so far away, break it into so many pieces he'd never recover it. That didn't matter though.

No, only the blood and deaths of those who would soon fall mattered.
He fingered the line of text on the yellowed page of the book that lay in front of him and grinned. Yes, the Centrals had been on the right track, but they hadn’t had his vision. Hadn’t had his promise. They’d used this spell before, and now he knew how to make it his own.

It would come as a clash of Titans.
Caym would rejoice and win.
And, in his victory, Caym would be benevolent.
He would grant the mercy of death to the defeated.
He was a demon, after all.

All I want is you by Toni Blake

SYNOPSIS:

Toni Blake’s new heartfelt Coral Cove series brings Blake’s incredible talent of creating a story that’s filled with hope and love. ALL I WANT IS YOU starts off the series with the story of Christy Knight, a character who appeared in her Destiny series. Readers will remember Christy from her encounter with Anna Romo, the heroine of Hall Moon Hill (a 2014 RITA Award Finalist), the last installment in the Destiny series. Christy’s life changed when a horrible fire claimed the lives of her mother and father; she’s left to deal with the aftermath of financial troubles on her own. Christy grew up in the small, cozy town Destiny, Ohio, but she feels her future lies elsewhere. In hopes of figuring out what’s next, she’s decided to move to the city.

Christy and her roommate Bethany are struggling to make ends meet. The beautiful jewelry she creates doesn’t pay the bills. To top it off, Christy’s just found out about her Grandpa Charlie’s own financial troubles and that he may be asked to leave his assisted living home. As his only living relative left, Christy feels it’s up to her to help but she can barely help herself. Bethany thinks it’s time for Christy to grow up and find a guy who’s smart, sexy, and solvent. Though Christy’s hesitant about the plan—she’s a romantic at heart after all—faced with few options she’s willing to give it a shot.

The search spells disaster from day one. Her first date fails before it even starts! She did, however, meet her sexy neighbor Jack DuVall. He’s not quite the man she needs at the moment—if only his blue eyes weren’t so mesmerizing. It seems the rugged handyman fits the first two categories (smart and sexy), but he’s all wrong for her. As Jack helps Christy with small patch-up jobs around the apartment, they develop a friendship. Jack hasn’t been entirely forthcoming, he’s not really just a handyman and he’s nowhere near broke. Wary of trusting others because of a painful past he doesn’t want to revisit, he thinks it’s best to wait before sharing too much information about himself.

Meanwhile, Grandpa Charlie thinks it’s time for Christy to take a break from her day-to-day stresses and get some much needed R&R by visiting him in sunny Coral Cove.  Knowing she’s short on funds, Jack wants to help Christy make the trip happen, but how can he without exposing that he’s actually loaded? He joins her under the pretext of needing a vacation as well, splitting the expenses.  As the long hot days turn into sizzling nights together, Jack can’t deny his reasons for going along are far from noble.

The Coral Cove charm captivates Christy and Jack, and a passionate, loving relationship blossoms. Jack finds he had it all wrong—Christy’s not only gorgeous, but feisty and completely irresistible; after so much heartbreak and let downs Christy feels she finally has someone she can trust. But, when Jack shares secrets he’s been holding back, the relationship is compromised. As they both struggle to find their way back to each other, the quirky seaside town of Coral Cove could prove the perfect place to find a red-hot destiny of their own.

ALL I WANT IS YOU is a brilliant start to a heartwarming and sexy series, filled with Blake’s relatable blend of inspiring, passionate stories of hope and new beginnings. Readers will fall in love with the seaside town of Coral Cove and its quirky characters over and over again.

Fun Facts about ALL I WANT IS YOU
* The core idea of ALL I WANT IS YOU actually came to me around fourteen years ago. I even wrote a detailed synopsis for it at the time. But due to various career issues being in flux in those days, I never had occasion to show the story idea to anyone.
* I think the story developed in a much richer, deeper way as the start of the Coral Cove series than it would have as a singular work.
* I really enjoyed taking a character first introduced in the Destiny series and using her circumstances to propel my work in a new direction – specifically, the Gulf Coast of Florida, where I’ve spent quite a bit of time due to the good fortune of an aunt and uncle who lived in that area for many years.
* What’s extra fun for me about this story is that a lot of the mishaps that take place in the first few chapters really happened to me in real life when I was in my early 20s, living on my own for the first time, in Cincinnati – where ALL I WANT IS YOU begins.
When you read about:
* The door getting kicked down, that really happened!
* The neighborhood scents, the potted plant battle, the crashing down of the glass light – all of that happened, too!
* I remember that even as I was living it all, I knew all of those little events belonged in a story, and I even wrote a short story about them at the time, but again – they come to life in ALL I WANT IS YOU in a much richer way than when they were just arbitrary events from my life.
* So it’s safe to say this book holds a lot of me within its pages, and a lot of very real memories and emotion. I hope you will enjoy reading it as much as I love having the opportunity to share it.

EXCERPT:

Christy stood before him frozen in horror.  Of so many kinds.  Frustration that bordered on agony.  Embarrassment that – oh God – he was really turning her down again.  And hurt.  There was no other way to describe that part of it – it simply hurt, so unbelievably much that she wondered how she would survive it.
As her lower lip began to tremble, she bit down on it, trying not to let him see.  Not that that was enough to help this situation even one iota.  She wanted desperately to rehook her bra, but she couldn't do it from this angle and could only hold it helplessly in place over her breasts.  She'd never felt so rejected in her life.
Trying to swallow back her pain, a spark of anger erupted from her.  "Why did you have to start kissing me?  Why did you even start this at all?"  She could no longer meet his gaze – what had become easy and effortless had now grown impossible again.  At some point her eyes had become stuck on his chest because, hot and masculine though it was, it still seemed a safer place to look.
"I'm so sorry, honey," he said.  "I ... didn't mean to exactly.  I didn't plan it.  It's just that you're ... really beautiful when you're passionate about something, that's all."
She pulled in her breath, both flattered and bewildered – and Anna's words came back to her.  About going for it.  About never knowing how things would have gone if you didn't.  So even now, even as reckless as it seemed, she didn't hold back.  "I'm passionate about you, Jack."
He let out a heavy breath.  And her heart beat so hard it hurt.
"I'm passionate about you, too, Christy,” he said.  “Believe me, I am.  I just ..."
"What?" she demanded.
Now it was he who looked away, dropping his gaze to the flowered print of her skirt.  "Maybe I'm just worried about … attachment.”
“Attachment?” she asked.
He spoke more directly this time.  “Maybe I'm worried that I'll get attached to you, or you'll get attached to me."
I'm already attached to you.  But this time she held the words in.  Since putting it on the line didn't seem to be working in this case.  Who'd have thought getting lucrative consignment deals for her jewelry would be so much easier than giving herself to a man – and getting him to take her.
Somehow Anna's simple story had made Christy believe that if she put her heart out there for him to see, she'd find out he loved her, too.  Anna had made it sound ... hard, and yet at the same time so very simple.  Like the happy ending would just come if you willed it to.  So where was her happy ending?  And why had she been so foolish to believe it could be that easy?
Instead of saying any of that, though – instead of forcing out any more honesty and openness – now she found herself trying to deal in logic.  "I thought you said we'd come to Florida and see what happened.  That we'd let things take their course, go with the flow.  You're stopping the flow."
He looked so pained for her now that she knew her own pain was written all over her face.  It didn't matter what she said – she'd already made herself as vulnerable as a person could be.  And the thing about vulnerability was – once it was out there, you couldn't take it back.  She couldn't take it back.  Anymore than she could rehook her bra.
"That seemed like a good idea at the time,” Jack said, eyes still fraught with distress.  “But I'm not sure it's that simple now.  I mean, it's like I said – I'm afraid ... one of us will get attached."
"Don't you think,” she began desperately albeit still logically, “that most sex attaches people?  In some way?  Even if they pretend it doesn't?"  Oh crap, what was she doing?  Spilling her heart out onto the floor some more, that was all.  And maybe saying things she didn't even really know she felt until this very moment.  "And the truth is – I wouldn't want to have sex with anyone I might not get attached to.  It's a connection.  It's supposed to mean something.  Even if the whole world has tried to make it into nothing more than a recreational activity."  She stopped, sighed, let her gaze drop – because she realized she'd met his eyes again in the course of spewing out all this stupid honesty.  And she felt all the more naked, but it had nothing to do with her state of undress.
When she next spoke, her voice went softer.  "Or that's how it feels to me anyway.  So if getting attached sounds so horrible to you, then I guess it's just as well you stopped."

Blood Lust - Week Blitz
T. Lynne Tolles

New Adult Paranormal Romance

Date Published: June 18, 2014

A surprise visit from Blake and Devon's uncle, Dominic, demanding both vampires, come home immediately to find what is ailing his son Anton, puts everyone on edge. Can vampires get sick? Devon doesn't appreciate Dominic's demands, but agrees to fly back to Connecticut with Darby, since Blake has a job to finish up in California. Excited to meet more of Devon's family, Darby is confused by Devon's distance and coldness since Dominic's visit.

In Connecticut, this only gets worse when a gorgeous Libby, Anton's estranged wife, shows up unexpectedly and seems to have her sights set on Devon. To top it all off, there's seems to be some pent up animosity, Anton and Devon have towards each other.

What is this strange power Libby has over the men in this family? And what's wrong with poor Anton? Why does it seem that Anton and Devon hate each other? These are all questions Darby sets out to answer in this third volume of the Blood Series.

Excerpt

Dominic smiled at her gesture and said, “I’m sorry, miss, this is a private family matter and I just couldn’t possibly stay. You understand, don’t you?” He said this dismissively as if speaking to a servant; polite, but not sincere.
Darby saw that Devon was irritated by his uncle’s rude behavior and was about to say something, when Blake jumped out of his chair and said, “Sure, Dominic. They understand.”
He glanced at the others at the table and gave Devon an imploring look, all the while helping his uncle with his coat. “We’ll speak in the front yard, Dominic. Go back to your meal, enjoy! We’ll only be a minute,” Blake said rather apologetically to Darby still standing, stunned, in front of her seat.
Darby looked at the rest of the people at the table and said, “I’ll get some champagne flutes, to enjoy our lovely gift.” She excused herself as Devon and Blake led Dominic to the front yard.
They were almost to the black limousine, when Dominic turned to the boys. “I’m in need of your help, boys. Anton is terribly sick and I would like you both to come to Connecticut to help me determine what is ailing him.”
“I’m very sorry Anton is sick, but that does not excuse your…” Devon started.
“What Devon is trying to say, Dominic,” Blake interrupted, “is that we are not boys any longer. We have lives here, jobs, commitments, significant others. We can’t just up and leave.”
“Yes, I see you’ve hooked up with a lively bunch of hooligans. Eating at a table with witches and werewolf swine. How could you? So what, you with your Darby girl, and you with the werewolf crossbreed creature? Both witches, I presume?”
“Yes. I am with Rowan, but you don’t understand, Dominic,” Blake said.
Dominic’s eyes grew large. “How despicable, boy! Didn’t I teach you anything? Didn’t you listen to a word I told you? Your mother must be turning in her grave in shame. We are a family of noble vampire blood. What a disgrace to your heritage. Vile. Disgusting!”
“That’s enough, Dominic. You are wrong about werewolves, like many are wrong about vampires. You are mistaken…” Devon defended.
“How dare you? I am a professor of science. I most definitely am not mistaken. I saw, with my own two eyes, the horrific act of a werewolf. They are animals, not people.”
“You’re wrong, Dominic, very wrong. These are good and decent people. They’ve risked their lives for us on numerous occasions…” Blake tried to explain.
“Don’t bother explaining, Blake. He won’t change his mind. He has his view, and that is the only view he’ll ever see,” Devon said.
“I see your manners have been severely degraded by the company you keep. I demand you come to Connecticut immediately. Maybe you’ll find your manners there and remember your place in society.”
“I’m not leaving. Not for you and most definitely not for Anton,” Devon said.
“Oh, grow up, boy. That was ages ago. Let bygones be bygones already. I won’t take no for an answer. You will both march in there, pack your things, and come home.”
Connecticut is not our home. This is our home, Oljone, California. Right here, with a bunch of great friends who are waiting for us to continue our Thanksgiving feast,” Devon said as he turned and headed back to the house.
“Wait, Devon,” Blake said. Devon stopped and slowly turned. “Dominic, won’t you please join us for dinner. Get to know these people. They are family to us.”
Devon said, “Don’t bother wasting your breath, Blake. Like I said, he’s already made up his mind about them.”
“It’s Thanksgiving. You said yourself, Devon, Thanksgiving is a time to be thankful for family, friends and loved ones. Dominic and Anton are our only blood relatives.”
“Fine. You’re right, Blake, I did say that. Dominic, would you please join us for dinner?”
“Thank you for the offer but no. I can’t. No, I won’t sit at a table with two werewolves. I am staying at the Ritz-Carlton in San Francisco. Here are your tickets. We are leaving at 10:50 AM tomorrow. I expect to see you on the plane.” He handed each of them a first class ticket.
“Whoa, wait a minute. I can’t go, Dominic. I have to work. I have a project due, deadlines, I just can’t up and leave,” Blake insisted.
“Fine, you will join us when you are done with your commitments.”
“I’m not going either, Dominic. This is my home, here with Darby. There is no love lost between Anton and me. I’m sure he doesn’t want to see me any more than I want to see him. I’m sorry he’s sick, but for God’s sake, he’s a vampire, he’ll heal. I’m sure he will be fine.”
“No, Devon. He won’t. He is rapidly declining. You must help me. I demand that you help me.”
“You demand that I help you? There’s nothing I can do for him. I’m not a doctor; you are. I’m a software engineer. So is Blake. What could we possibly do for him?”
“You’re his family. You can be his family. Maybe he will confide in you.”
“Because…you are his age. You speak his language. You’re more understanding, like your mother.”
“Not where he’s concerned,” Devon muttered under his breath.
“You must do this!” Dominic yelled and turned red in the face, pounding a fist into his other hand, tears welling in his ferociously angry eyes.
Blake said, “Hang on, now. You both need to cool off a bit. Dominic, you’re going to blow a gasket. Relax. Devon, if Darby went with you to Connecticut, would you be willing to go and at least talk to Anton? See if maybe he would confide in you? You never know. And if he’s really that sick, don’t you think one of us should be there? We’re family, after all.”
“If Darby were politely invited to come, and treated appropriately, yes, I may consider going to Connecticut.”
“Dominic, would you be willing to accept Darby as a guest in your home, treating her as such, for Devon?”
He mulled this over, taking longer than Devon would have liked, but he reluctantly agreed.
“As long as her mutant sister does not come. Yes, I would accept the witch as a guest in my home providing she behaves in a proper manner.”
“What the he…” Devon started. Blake saw he was about to blow his top and interrupted.
“See, I knew this could be worked out. Now, would you at least join us for a glass of champagne and invite Darby properly, Dominic?”
Dominic grumbled and nodded.

There’s a difference between a bad boy and a boy who’s bad . . . meet Shane Baxter. Sexy, dark, and dangerous, Bax isn’t just from the wrong side of the tracks, he is the wrong side of the tracks. Bax terrifies her, awakening feelings she never thought she’d have for a guy like him. But it doesn’t take Dovie long to realize . . . some boys are just better when they’re bad.

EXCERPT: I let out the breath I was holding and took another step closer to her. The water was splashing on the sleeve of my shirt as I reached up to grab both of her cheeks in my palms. “Are you scared of me?” It was the start of the questions I had asked her what felt like a lifetime ago. Her answer didn’t change, but this time when she answered, she was holding back a smile that made my heart hurt. “Terrified, but I kind of like it now.” “Do you trust me?” My voice broke. I had never really trusted anyone but Race and now there was her and my brother and just all kinds of new things making my life so much more complicated and undeniably fuller. “With my life. I trust all the parts of you, Bax. You need to know that.” “You going to go to bed with me?” That made her outright laugh and she reached up to curl her hands around my wrists. “As often as I can and anyplace in between when the mood strikes.” The rest of the blood racing around my system went solidly south. I dropped my forehead so it was resting on hers and the water from the showerhead was cascading down around us. I was making a mess, but I didn’t care because I had her, and she was my home. “Do you love me?” The words sounded so foreign, but so right, when I was saying them to her. She brushed her full lips across mine and the last three months without her faded away. “Do you want me to lie to you or tell you the truth?” I smiled against her mouth and kissed her back twice as hard as she had kissed me. “Lie to me.” She reached up and put her arms around my neck and took a step back, dragging me all the way into the shower stall with her. The water was lukewarm at best, and it made me shiver. So did the fact that she started to impatiently pull the tail of my shirt up over my head. A task made increasingly difficult considering I was now soaked head to toe and the material was clinging to me. “Of course not. You’re the last person in the world I could love.”
